YEAR 7 NETBALL RALLY – PLAYERS GAIN VALUABLE MATCH EXPERIENCE AT THIRSK
Mrs Southgate, joint Lead Teacher of PE, recently travelled to Thirsk for a netball rally involving nine teams from local schools. She provided the following report:
“I took two teams to Thirsk, but because of the brilliant numbers and commitment to training sessions by Year 7 students this year, I could easily have taken three teams!
Ex-student Katie Carruthers, who also works with our brilliant Community Sport team, came along to help manage and umpire for the B team – thank you to Katie!
For once, we were blessed with beautiful sunny weather as the teams got stuck into this fantastic opportunity to play lots of netball against nine other local teams.
There were some really close games, with many results that could have gone either way.
All players from both teams displayed fantastic determination and teamwork throughout the afternoon.
I’m really looking forward to seeing what the Year 7 netballers can do over the next four years – there are so many positive, keen, enthusiastic, committed and talented young people – they have the makings of a superb squad!”
