YEAR 11 TEAM 3RD IN HIGHLY COMPETITIVE AREA NETBALL RALLY

Mrs Carruthers, PE teacher at Richmond, provides this report from a recent Year 11 netball rally at Thirsk – thank you!

“The Year 11 girls netball team recently travelled to Queen Mary’s School near Thirsk to compete in the Hambleton and Richmondshire Area Netball Rally.

The girls played six games against very tough opposition. They started very strongly with Jorge Lumley and Millie Gale combining well as our shooters to score 15 times in the first match! This ended in a win. Trinty Charles also slotted into this shooting team in later games proving to be just as successful.

The second game was even tougher, where Katie Smart and Sophie White proved to be an excellent team in defence, making countless interceptions. Our centre court team, which consisted of Amelia Atkinson, Kat Qaranivalagi, Emily Turagavagone and Mia Brooks-Skingle had to prove their fitness levels by working consistently hard across the court as we played six games back to back.

Overall, the team won four games and lost two which gained them 3rd place overall.

They worked hard, enjoyed the tournament and achieved an excellent result!”
