U14 BOYS HIT DOUBLE FIGURES VS THIRSK!
Thanks to Mr Oliver, coach and manager of the U14 boys football team, for this match report:
“The U14 boys kicked off their year with a game in the ESFA Cup vs Thirsk. Olly Middlemiss got us off to a flying start, brilliantly finishing a perfect through ball from Harry Coyle to give us the lead within the first two minutes. We then settled into the game and controlled possession, not allowing the visitors any chance to counter.
Seth Bell then scored the first and second of his five goals to give us a 3-0 lead, which settled a lot of the early nerves. Thirsk scored two either side of Seth’s third goal to end the first half with a 4-2 lead for Richmond.
A quick run up to the store cupboard to fetch some bibs to fix the kit clash took up most of the half time break but the focus on getting a positive result remained. In the second half we wrestled control of the game to add more goals from Seth (2), Charlie Downes, Freddie Curtis (2) and Connell Lacey. The pick of the goals was Connell’s cheeky back heeled effort!
The team battled well against a good Thirsk side, the bobbling pitch and a tricky kit clash to end up 10-2 winners. It really was a top performance from everyone involved. On to the next round and hopefully more wins – well done everyone!”
