Simi and Katherine were nominated by Miss Spittlehouse and Miss Abbey, who said: “Simi and Katherine came to me during the summer term with a wish to celebrate Fiji Day as a school this October. Our Fijian student population is growing and Simi and Katherine wanted to ensure that new students felt welcomed and celebrated across the school. Simi and Katherine are outstanding Richmond School students in both academic excellence and for their participation in wider activities across the school. They have shown great determination and teamwork in collaborating with each other, but also the rest of the Fijian school community to ensure they represent their heritage with pride. The students wished to share their heritage with the rest of the school and we’re very lucky to have the support from the Kitchen Staff who have worked to produce a ‘Fijian-Inspired’ menu for Fiji Day on Thursday 10th October.
Whilst Simi and Katherine worked hard to put together the PowerPoint and individually presented it to their tutor groups with aplomb, I know that the rest of the Fijian school community are also to be thanked for their continual efforts around the school in bringing joy and fun to each and every lesson.
We are fortunate to have such a diverse culture in Richmond School and we look forward to celebrating more special events throughout the year.”
