THE HEADTEACHER’S CREDIT VALUES AWARD WAS PRESENTED TO ALEX NIMMO IN YEAR 13

30 April 2024  |  Sven Wardle  |  Posted in: ,

Alex was nominated by Ms. Richardson who said: “Alex has been an excellent student all throughout school and he has been particularly outstanding during his study of A-Levels at Sixth Form. Alex always goes above and beyond with any task set and his independent learning is exemplary, often meeting deadlines ahead of schedule. He demonstrates his love of maths and science by his insightful contributions in lessons and by the work he produces which is always of the highest quality. Alex is working towards the highest grades and has offers to study Engineering from several top universities including Cambridge. Independence and Excellence are qualities which Alex has in spades!

Recently, Alex has also shown his Determination. A talented and committed rugby player, Alex has played competitively from a young age – starting at Richmondshire RUFC and then at Darlington RUFC – he demonstrates Teamwork and leadership every week as he captains his rugby side. Five weeks before his A-Level exams, Alex broke his right hand playing rugby. As he is right handed, this affects his writing and someone other than Alex could have been set back by this. However, Alex is unfailingly positive about the situation he finds himself in. He has quickly learned to temporarily write with his left hand and with a stylus on a Chromebook. Alex is confident that when he has his cast removed just before the exams, he will be able to perform to his best.

It has been a genuine pleasure to teach Alex Maths and Further Maths and he would be a very deserving winner of the Headteacher’s CREDIT Values Award.”
