SIXTH FORM STUDENTS HEADING TO HAMBURG

14 March 2023  |  Jill Lundberg  |  Posted in: ,

Two sixth form students are delighted to have been selected to take part in a week-long football camp with St Pauli Football Club in Hamburg.  Victor  and Luke, in Year 12, have successfully achieved scholarships on the prestigious PASCH programme and will join other young people from all over Europe for this fantastic opportunity. Victor and Luke are keen footballers and play for Richmond Town U17s and Darlington Spraire Lads U17s respectively. They are really looking forward to the camp.

All the students taking part are from PASCH schools and they will spend the week enhancing their German language and football skills. As well as the daily football training and German lessons, the students will watch a match at the St Pauli stadium and visit Hamburg.

Schools: Partners for the Future” (PASCH) forms a worldwide network of more than 2,000 schools with a special connection to Germany. It is an initiative of the German Federal Foreign special focus on German and German culture. The focus lies on widening horizons through multilingualism and a common approach to future problems as an international learning community. The Goethe-Institut London is in charge of implementing the initiative in England.

Fiona Dutton, Lead Teacher for German, said: “We are proud of the partnership with PASCH and the Goethe-Institut and the enriched language opportunities the programme offers our students. Since we achieved PASCH status in 2019, a number of our students have benefited from attending summer schools and workshops to improve their German and we have also worked on various initiatives in school with larger groups of students. I am sure Victor and Luke will have an amazing time in Hamburg.”
