RICHMOND SCHOOL WIND BAND REUNION 2025

Some time ago we were contacted by Richard Jones, former Head of Music here at Richmond School. He was hatching plans to bring together as many players as possible for a summer reunion concert of the Richmond School Wind Band.
Below is the information he initially shared with his contacts. This has now spread much more widely, with over 60 players already scheduled to take part.
“I’m looking for anyone who might have played in the band from 1981 to 2005. I know that those who have already received this message have been broadcasting it further.
2025 marks a number of anniversaries in the world of the Richmond School Wind Band:
- 36 years since our first commission “Catcher of Shadows”
- 35 years since we went to Vinstra
- 29 years since the commission of “Paris Sketches”
- 25 years since the Millennium Music Tour and the first RSWB Reunion.
On a personal level I will be 70. I’m hoping to gain my doctorate very soon and it will be 20 years since I left Richmond School.
I’d love to celebrate this with as many former RSWB members as possible and therefore I am planning a reunion weekend. The format is as follows:
Friday July 4th. Meet from 7:00pm for a 7.30 to 9.30 rehearsal.
Saturday July 5th. Morning and afternoon rehearsals times to be confirmed but probably 10:00 – 1:00 and 2:00 – 5:00. Depends on stamina!
Evening get together, possibly in the Kings Head – nothing formal.
Sunday July 6th. Morning rehearsal. Concert at 2:00 finish no later than 4:30.”
Richard is still very keen to recruit players – please contact him directly via email at rswb2025@gmail.com if you’re interested.
