NEW TEXTILES CLUB IS PROVING TO BE VERY POPPY-ULAR!

17 October 2022  |  Jill Lundberg  |  Posted in:

Our new Textiles Club has got off to a great start and is proving to be very poppy-ular with our students! Year 8 to Year 11 students are welcome to join and in the first few weeks they have been creating poppies in different ways, dedicating time to developing some practical skills in different decorative techniques.

Miss Tucker, Lead Teacher for Technology, said: “We are always inspired by the efforts of those in the Armed Forces, past and present, and we wanted to do something to reflect this. The students have really run with the theme and have come up with some fantastic ideas to show our support. They have designed some incredibly creative and inspiring outfit designs to display our poppies on. The whole group will work towards making one of the outfits, with individually handmade poppies presented on the design.”

If any students are interested in joining the Textiles Club then please come along on Wednesday afternoons, from15.30 to16.40 in DF05. If you require any further information then please do not hesitate to speak to Miss Tucker or Miss Bates.

We hope you enjoy browsing through the photographs of the students making their poppies as well as seeing some of the sketches they have created of their dress designs.
