A VALIANT EFFORT BY YEAR 11 FOOTBALLERS

21 March 2023  |  Jill Lundberg  |  Posted in:

The Year 11 team played away against King James School at Knaresborough. The boys gave a valiant effort but ultimately came up short, losing 3-0 on the day. The team fought hard in the first half, having the better of the chances to get in front in the game however just before half time, they conceded a goal. Going into the second half 1-0 down, the boys worked exceptionally hard and had some very good chances. Theo made a spectacular effort, by attempting an overhead kick from the edge of the 18-yard box – it looked a certain goal, looping over the keeper, until one of the opposition defenders headed the ball onto the crossbar, then clearing the ball out of play.

When chances like that happen and you don’t score you can just tell it won’t be your day. King James then scored two late goals, making the score 3-0 and gave Richmond School little chance to complete a comeback.
