Miss Pemberton, Teacher of Dance at Richmond School and Sixth Form College, provides the following report from a week’s intensive dance workshop attended by three of Richmond’s Sixth Form A Level dance students – thank you!
“This August, three of our talented and hard-working A-Level Dance students – Lilyanna Navuso, Amelie Harte, and Caitlin Mackintosh – were fortunate to receive financial support from the Richmond School Trustees to assist fund the prestigious Trinity Laban Summer Intensive.
The week-long intensive, held at the iconic Laban Building in London, allowed students to create their own bespoke timetable, tailoring the experience to their individual interests. They explored a wide range of styles including jazz, contemporary, ballet and hip-hop, and worked with guest artists from Company Wayne McGregor and Boy Blue.
The programme brought together dancers from across the world including the USA, Spain and Turkey creating a truly global community of young artists. At the end of the week, students performed and shared their work, celebrating everything they had learnt and created.
For Lilyanna, Amelie, and Caitlin, it was not only an invaluable chance to strengthen their skills but also a once in a lifetime experience that broadened their horizons as emerging artists.
I am incredibly proud of them for showing such independence, ambition, and determination in pursuing their passion for dance within an ever-evolving and highly competitive industry.”
