YEAR 8 FOOD TECH STUDENTS CREATE CAKES WITH LOCALLY SOURCED APPLES

Miss Tucker, Lead Teacher of Food Technology and Textiles at Richmond, gives us an update about a recent activity in Year 8 Food Technology lessons:

“This week, Year 8 students have been making German Apple Cakes using locally sourced apples and a simple super-quick recipe – see image. School staff kindly donated the fabulous cooking apples which came from trees in their gardens or nearby. Students have enjoyed learning about fresh, seasonal, hyper-local ingredients and their benefits, including being sustainable and inexpensive.”

The photos show the students in action, also undertaking the side-challenge of removing the apple peel in one piece!
