YEAR 8 GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY TEAM RACE IN COMPETITIVE REGIONAL FINALS

14 November 2024  |  Sven Wardle  |  Posted in:

Five Year 8 students recently travelled to Stewart Park, Middlesbrough to compete in the North East Regional Finals of the English Schools AA Cross Country Cup 2024.

Connie Wiford, Pippa Gibbon, Mathilda Townend, Isabelle Smith and Emily Archer are five of the strongest athletes in Year 8 and had already done exceptionally well by qualifying for these finals.

Over 300 of the North East’s best Senior, Intermediate and Junior runners were competing at the event, travelling from as far north as Hexham and as far south as Skipton. The Junior Girls event featured a field of 72 athletes and was run over a challenging and hilly 2550m course – a proper North East cross country course!

All five Richmond competitiors put in fantastic performances, leaving nothing in reserve and pushing hard all the way round the course. The individual results below contributed to the overall team position of 9th out of a total of 13 teams – a highly respectable result.

Well done to all the competitors and we look forward to hearing about further successes as the cross country season unfolds.
