Year 8 and 9 girls footballers head to the county cup semis
The Year 8 and 9 girls football team are heading to the County Cup semi-finals after beating Queen Ethelburga’s 6:2 at home.
Beth Johnson, PE teacher, said: “The girls played tremendously and battled until the very last whistle. The game could have gone either way, despite how it looks in the score line. QE put in some great challenges which made it difficult for us to attack. We got 2-0 up before conceding. The girls heads didn’t drop though, they fought on to score another 3 goals before conceding again, making it 5-2. They managed to bury the 6th goal in the last ten minutes which secured our place in the semi finals. All the girls played tremendously well – which made my job incredibly difficult to try to get the subs on! I look forward to the girls going further in the competition and being the only team left to represent Richmond School.”
The goal scorers were: Emma (x3), Grace (x2) and Isabella (x1).
Players of the match were Emma Farrow and Grace Dobson, nominated by QE.
