A group of Year 7 students surprised the staff in the school restaurant when they broke into a flash mob and sang a fabulous rendition of Wade in the Water, an African Jubilee Song/ Spiritual originally composed by Ramsey Lewis. The students from 7 Swanwick have only been learning this piece for two lessons but performed with such enthusiasm and professionalism. You can enjoy their performance HERE.
The students have been developing their understanding of the musical elements and the ingredients needed to make a piece of music, and have been really delving into the elements of Texture and Dynamics. Mrs Noble chose this piece for them to perform as it requires the group to split into two different melodies (creating a polyphonic texture) which can be rather difficult to sing but the group are so full of confidence and passion for singing that they had no problem with this challenging task!
Mrs Noble said: “The students put their heart and soul into performing their flash mob and they have all demonstrated a real passion for singing whilst learning the key elements of music which is music to my ears!”
