YEAR 6 STUDENTS SAMPLE SECONDARY SCHOOL LIFE AT 3 DAY TRANSITION EVENT

19 July 2024  |  Sven Wardle  |  Posted in: ,

In July our Year 6 students had a fantastic three days of transition at Richmond School to support their progression to secondary school life.

On day one students had a tour of the school with our Student Leaders and took part in a range of team building activities such as orienteering, STEM challenges and performing arts workshops.

Over days two and three students had the chance to experience what life will be like as a Richmond School student in September. They had a tutor session and assembly in the morning followed by a wide range of fun and engaging taster lessons including English, Maths, Science and PE. They also had their first taste of what the Restaurant has to offer at break and lunchtime. The three day event culminated with the annual Year 6 Disco, where over 160 students had a fun filled hour of dancing and singing to celebrate their successful transition.

Miss Abbey, next year’s Assistant Head Teacher for Personal Development and organiser of the transition days, said: “Our new students had a very successful transition event this year. We were incredibly impressed with how quickly and easily students embraced Richmond School life. It didn’t take them long to find their way around our school or to make new friends. Students were rewarded with over 500 CREDITs across the 3 days, reflecting their positive attitude and hard work. We look forward to welcoming them back in September when they start their secondary school life.”
