On 18th November, our Year 13 CTEC Sport students took off on the annual Low Mill residential trip. This is a fantastic opportunity for the students to enjoy three days of outdoor and adventurous activities while recording evidence that will contribute to their current unit of work.  On 18th November, our Year 13 CTEC Sport students took off on the annual Low Mill residential trip. This is a fantastic opportunity for the students to enjoy three days of outdoor and adventurous activities while recording evidence that will contribute to their current unit of work.  While on the trip, the students experienced a variety of activities including gorge walking, canoeing, caving and abseiling. Throughout each activity every student had opportunities to lead elements of excursions as well as developing essential teamwork and communication skills. Having braved quite chilly conditions and faced a few fears, the group have been fantastic representatives of Richmond School and have certainly embodied the school’s values. Trip leader Mr Moore said: “The group have been such good ambassadors for the school and it is so nice to see young people pushing themselves through quite challenging situations that are clearly out of their comfort zone and coming out better for it on the other side.” When asked about what he thought of the trip, Sam Kettlewell who celebrated his 18th birthday while we were away said: “I really enjoyed the caving because it is something a bit different to what I normally do. It was the combination of climbing and scrambling through various-sized passageways that I particularly enjoyed. It was a good challenge.”
