A group of ten Year 12 Philosophy students visited Leeds Trinity University for a Subject Focus Day. The purpose of the trip was to gain an understanding of the transition from A-level Philosophy to studying the subject at degree level. The day began with a Philosophy tutorial delivered by one of the university’s lecturers. The focus was on Political Philosophy and our students played a key role in the discussions, showing their ability to think critically, which is such a key skill in this subject. After lunch and a tour of the campus, including halls of residence, the students’ union and sports facilities, the afternoon session focussed on applying to university. This is obviously on the minds of our Year 12 students at the moment and tips were given about the process and key issues such as financial management. Our students got a lot out of the day and showed great maturity throughout.
