Amelie Harte and Lillyanna Navuso, Year 12 students at Richmond Sixth Form College, recently took part in three days of virtual work experience run by a national dance organisation.
Miss Pemberton, dance teacher and Careers Lead at Richmond School and Sixth Form College, explains:
“We are fortunate to have access to ‘Speakers for Schools’ as part of our Careers Programme, which provides Year 10 and Year 12 students with the latest virtual work experience opportunities. When I discovered the opportunity offered by One Dance UK, I knew it was a unique chance for our A-Level Dance students to gain invaluable experience.
One Dance UK is the national organisation at the forefront of strengthening and diversifying the dance sector. During a fantastic three-day programme, Amelie and Lillyanna had the opportunity to explore a wide range of careers in dance. This included sessions with industry experts, practical workshops, and the chance to engage in discussions and explore their own creative potential.
I am incredibly proud of their achievements and am confident that this experience will play a significant role in shaping their future, whether within the Arts or beyond.”
Amelie added: “It was an excellent, engaging three days, with lots to do. We completed different practical workshops and also had the opportunity to speak to a lot of different professionals from the industry – performers, choreographers and managers. We gained information on different styles of dance and different companies that offer a wide range of higher education and careers opportunities. It certainly got me thinking about my future!”
