Year 11 students look to the future

A group of Year 11 students attended a major careers event in Newcastle on Wednesday 18th September. “Skills North East” was jam-packed with interactive, inspiring and informative activities. The event featured hands-on demonstrations with industry experts who offered free insight and impartial advice. A group of Year 11 students attended a major careers event in Newcastle on Wednesday 18th September. “Skills North East” was jam-packed with interactive, inspiring and informative activities. The event featured hands-on demonstrations with industry experts who offered free insight and impartial advice. Employers and Training Providers who were there included: Askham Bryan College, Specsavers, The Ambulance Service, Teesside University, The Northern School of Art and the National Apprenticeship Service. Students learned about Game Development, Cyber Security, Hair and Beauty, Dance, and First Aid. The stands were very interactive so students could really get involved. Raghad Alkasem said: “I really enjoyed the day and meeting all the different providers.” Leander Firth added: “I am interested in courses at Askham Bryan so I went over to talk to the people on the stand which helped me.” Ms Mannion, Careers Leader, concluded: “It was great to see the students so engaged, they really took the initiative and became involved in the many activities on display.
