YEAR 11 STUDENTS BENEFIT FROM LOCAL PHYSIO EXPERTISE

Louise Atkinson, from Richmond’s physiotherapy practice, Physio42, has been visiting Richmond School on a regular basis this term to deliver a series of Pilates classes to our Year 11 students.

Mrs Southgate, joint Lead Teacher of PE, gives some more detail:

“We are so grateful to Louise for offering her time and expertise to give our students an opportunity to try a different form of exercise.

It has been great to see our students willing to try something new and pushing themselves out of their comfort zone – some of these exercises can feel really challenging!

They have gained valuable exercise experience and knowledge about the importance of moving their bodies every day. Louise has taught the students a range of basic Pilates exercises and given them some really straightforward ideas and tips for how they can build these into their everyday lives. She has reinforced the message that by maintaining their core strength and range of movement they are looking after their spines and ultimately investing in their future selves.”

Thanks to Louise and the team at Physio42 – they are always fantastically supportive of our students, coming into careers events, offering work experience placements and inspiring students with the passion they have for their work.
