World-famous hairstylist and creative entrepreneur shares his expertise
Our students were privileged to have workshops with Mark Woolley, internationally acclaimed hairstylist and creative entrepreneur, who spent a full day in Media, Design & Technology, Business and Careers Education lessons. Students learned about product development, digital marketing, and how to set up a business, as well as some budding hairdressers benefitting from his amazing knowledge and experience as a world-class stylist.
Ms Mannion, Careers Leader, said: “Mark Woolley threw himself into the day at Richmond School and everything was high energy. Mark was very generous with his time and so supportive of our students and their learning. He engaged with students so easily and really inspired many students – and teachers on his visit. The Year 11 Business lesson was a real high point and students worked on the 4 Ps of Marketing using Electric Hair as a case study. Mark has also offered for students who are interested in a career in Hairdressing to contact him in the future.”
Ruth Hamer, Careers Advisor, added: “Mark spent time with a small group of Year 11 students who have expressed an interest in pursuing a career in hairdressing. It was an invaluable experience for the students who were able to hear all about Mark’s journey from Richmond school student to how he came to be where he is now. The students asked lots of great questions around training routes, day-to-day challenges and how Mark has become so successful (and if he cuts his own hair.. he doesn’t !) Mark offered support to all the students should they decide that hairdressing is the route for them. For students to spend time with someone like Mark was a wonderful opportunity, and one which I’m sure they all benefited from.”
