UPDATE! NORTH YORKSHIRE SCHOOLS CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS, SKIPTON.

23 January 2025  |  Sven Wardle  |  Posted in: ,

Yesterday, we published an article about the North Yorkshire Cross Country Championships that were held at Aireville Park, Skipton last weekend. The article focused on the performances of Tomas Hoole, Aiden Johnson, as well as Isaac and Wilf Lamb. We knew there were other Richmond athletes running and now we have a bit more information – thanks to Aimee Wilford and Amy Clarkson for providing it!

Alfie Clarkson and Luca Clark both ran in the Year 7 Boys race. Alfie came 6th, qualifying for the Northern Counties in February, and the National Championships in Northampton in March. (Note: There is no Year 7 race at the English Schools in Sussex in March, just Junior, Inter and Senior races). Luca came a brilliant 26th in a highly competitive field of 36 runners.

Orla Noone competed in the Year 7 Girls race, coming an excellent 20th in a strong field of 39 runners.

Connie Wilford, Year 8, ran in the Junior Girls race. This is a particular challenge for Year 8 students as they are running with their own year group and also against Year 9 athletes. Connie came a brilliant 17th out of 41 runners.

Isabelle Smith, Year 8, also ran in the Junior Girls race, placing an excellent 24th.

The photo shows, left to right, Aiden Johnson, Isaac Lamb, Wilf Lamb, Alfie Clarkson, then Luca Clark, Isabelle Smith, Orla Noone and Connie Wilford.

We think we might have missed one more Richmond athlete who wasn’t on the photo – can anyone help?! Please email swardle@richmond-alt.uk if you can.
