Trinity Academy Richmond recently hosted a Spring Carnival at their school site. Amazingly, it was a gloriously sunny day and people turned up in their droves to experience a wide range of activities and performances from tombola and face painting to circus skills and pizza consumption!
The Richmond School and Sixth Form College Concert Band performed in the sunshine – one of the highlights of the day.
Mr Boyd, Lead Teacher of Music said: “The day was lovely with lots of activities and food stalls for the students, staff, friends and the public. I was really happy with the Concert Band as they played through an hour’s worth of repertoire ranging from classical, to modern, via jazz and pop! It was a great practice for us to perform outdoors in the glorious sunshine as we prepare to travel to Germany for our Concert Tour in July.”
Mrs Roberts, teacher of MFL at Richmond School and chair of the PTA at Trinity academy, said: “We were absolutely delighted to welcome the fabulous Richmond School Concert Band to our spring carnival. They were an absolute credit to school, themselves and their families, but moreover to Mr Boyd. They played a wonderful one hour set and their performance was thoroughly enjoyed by all in the glorious sunshine. Despite fundraising for their own upcoming visit to Germany, they attended our fundraising event and certainly helped us to raise money for the children of Trinity. We are incredibly grateful and I felt very proud of them all on the day.”
Another highlight was the performance of the Ovinos Samba Brazilian Carnival Band. Mrs Green, Teaching Assistant at Richmond school played with the band – Mrs. Roberts described their performance as “Brilliant!”
The Ovinos Samba Brazilian Carnival Band are currently recruiting for new members – no musical experience necessary! They rehearse at Ravensworth Village Hall at 7pm on Mondays. You can find out more on their Facebook page at the following link:
