TREMENDOUS ENTRIES IN OUR WORLD BOOK DAY COMPETITION

03 March 2023  |  Jill Lundberg  |  Posted in:

Our World Book Day competition invited students to recreate a scene from their favourite book and it resulted in some tremendous entries. With such a high standard of work, judging was a difficult task.

Our winners, however, captured something magical – Noah, in Year 8, won for his fabulous recreation of a scene from ‘Jurassic Park’ by Michael Crichton. Noah clearly has a director’s eye; there is more than a touch of Spielberg about his work. You can enjoy Noah’s film here.

Kirsty, in Year 11, won for her beautiful canvas inspired by the novel, ‘Dead Poets’ Society’. Kirsty’s bold and eye-catching work really stood out.

Our runners up are: Key stage 3 competition – Ruby, in Year 7, for her colourful illustration of Fawkes from the Harry Potter series; Grace, also in Year 7, for her charming animation of ‘The First Beagle in Space’; Key Stage 4 competition which you can enjoy here – Cameron, in Year 10, for his highly accomplished digital artwork inspired by the novel ‘Mortal Engines’; and Archie, also in Year 10 and one of our winners from last year, with his detailed model of the engine Edward, from Reverend W Awdry’s much loved Thomas the Tank Engine series.

Rebecca Weston, Lead Teacher for English, said: “We have been amazed by the imagination and creativity of our students – they have decorated cakes, created intricate models, directed and animated short videos and produced some stunning artwork. What a fantastic way to celebrate World Book Day and the joy that reading can bring to our lives. Thank you to all the students who took part.”

The winners received book tokens for their fabulous work.
