Training Friday 20th March: Working together with parents/carers of students with dyslexia

26 February 2020  |  Jill Lundberg  |  Posted in:

Yes@Areté Learning Trust are running a half-day training session on dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties for Teachers, Parents Teaching Assistants and Learning Mentors. Empowering students together will focus on:

  • Clear and effective communication
  • Mutual respect and understanding
  • Ways to jointly support the child academically and emotionally
  • Recognising the emotional aspect of parenting a child with specific learning difficulties
  • Resources to share to increase understanding of dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties
  • Supporting parents in explaining specific learning difficulties to their child—encouraging positivity and development of strategies

The training will be led by Elizabeth Loly, a qualified teacher and parent to a delightfully dyslexic son. With much experience within communications, which began when working on the London 2012 Olympic bid, Liz works as a Communications and Education Consultant. Liz is personally and professionally dedicated to sharing knowledge of dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties and enabling everyone the opportunity and strategies to reach their own full potential. Liz has a strong belief that effective communication between schools and families can increase outcomes and reduce issues, anxiety and ultimately help everyone.
