THE HEADTEACHER’S CREDIT VALUES AWARD WAS PRESENTED TO XANDER REID IN YEAR 10

04 June 2024  |  Sven Wardle  |  Posted in: ,

Xander was nominated by Mrs Harrison who said: “In February Xander signed up for the pre-16 Nuclear Physics Masterclasses through York University where he completed three to five hours of content per week for six weeks.

He recently brought in his certificate of completion for attending all of the webinars and completing all of the Isaac Physics activities set. He sent me some questions for help and the level of some of the questions was at A-Level standard!

In addition to this he has also applied for and been successful in obtaining a place on the STEM work experience programme at York University. Xander is responsible for his own travel to and from the university each day. Across the week he will spend time in 8 areas of the university; Biology, Chemistry, Engineering, Mathematics, Computer Science, Health Sciences, Environment and Geography and Physics. He will also meet current undergraduate students and find out what it’s like to study at university and attend lectures, tour the research laboratories and conduct experimental work in the teaching laboratories.

It takes a great deal of courage to sign up for these opportunities and it is fantastic to see a student working so hard to have as many experiences as possible. He is an outstanding student who always follows the school routines, is enthusiastic in lessons and has a real love of Physics. I feel he would be a worthy winner of the Headteacher’s CREDIT Values Award.”
