Freddy was nominated by Mr McCormack and Mr Wilson who said: “Freddy has a real passion at the moment for welding. He has consistently given up his own time to design and create a welding project after school. He has a flair for developing ideas into a finished product and spends time adjusting his ideas to fit the resources available to him. During this year he has developed welding techniques to the point where he needs limited supervision to complete the welding tasks. He now has enough confidence to just gets on with his project without staff helping him or teaching him techniques. Whilst in the workshop he shows respect towards the equipment he is using and to the people also working in the room. It has been a pleasure watching him grow in confidence with the work he has been doing. Freddie is not being made to do this because we think it is good for him, he has decided to do this himself because this is the kind of activity he wants to do when he is older.
During Design and Technology lessons, Freddy is a creative student who excels at the subject. He has a flair for developing ideas and implementing his designs in practical work.”
