Stunning performances in Spring Concert

12 May 2022  |  Jill Lundberg  |  Posted in: ,

Our recent spring concert showcased our jazz band, concert band and chamber choir and a number of soloists who will sadly be leaving us this summer. Students from Year 7 through to 13 performed at the first concert in school since December 2019 and delivered a set that was of a professional standard. The audience was blown away by the stunning performances of all the groups and soloists.

We will be putting together a video of highlights from the concert and will share this with you very soon. In the meantime, we hope you enjoy browsing through the photos from the evening.

The programme was varied and included a great mix of genres and styles – from selections from West Side Story and Star Wars, Ave Verum and Scarborough Fair to Ragtime and Glee – there was something for everyone.

It was a poignant and emotional evening for a number of our Year 11 and Year 13 students who will be leaving us soon and it was wonderful to hear Katie Rawson, James Roberts, Florence Hall, Holly Brydon and Finlay Mckechnie, Year 13 students, perform soloists. They paid emotional tributes to Mr Boyd, Mrs Noble and their instrumental teachers who have supported them throughout their time at Richmond School.

Stephen Boyd, Lead Teacher for Music, said: “It is such a pleasure to lead a department full of really great young musicians. The standard of performance was incredible, and I am so happy we have the opportunity to share our music again. Our current Year 13s have been the backbone of the department over seven years, performing in our community, nationally and abroad. We will miss them greatly but the next generation are coming though strong!”
