STUDENTS SHOW IMMENSE DETERMINATION IN AREA TEAM CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

28 November 2022  |  Jill Lundberg  |  Posted in:

Thirty-eight students from Years 7 to 11 travelled to Northallerton to compete against local schools in the recent Area Team Cross Country Championship. All the students showed great determination in running a range of distances from 2600m, all the way to 5200m for the Year 10 and 11 boys, with some students competing in their first ever races.

There were some fantastic individual performances but the pick of the bunch was Lily-Mae, in Year 9, and Wilf, in Year 7, who won their respective races. However, the competition was a team event and it was the girls that stole the headlines with the Year 9 girls winning and the Year 8 girls being pipped into second place by just 4 points. With many students getting the bug for racing they are looking forward to the individual area trials on the 8th of December.

Running club is on Mondays after school and is open to students of all abilities and Year groups. If anyone is interested joining, please speak to Mrs Johnson, Mr Randall or Miss Spittlehouse.
