Students learn about leadership
Our Year 10 student leaders attended a leadership training workshop and explored what makes a good leader, what skills are needed, and how these skills can be developed in school.
The workshop was by Kevin Cabra Netherton, an experienced Royal Navy Officer, who is also CEO of two travel businesses – Euroventure and GOAT Road Trip. Kevin is an entrepreneur with many transferable skills and he has a lot of knowledge which he was able to impart to the students.
Mrs Weston, Lead Learning Manager said: “The student leaders will be involved with open days, school events, assemblies and will be acting as school ambassadors. The training will help them to develop their confidence and communication skills.”
Ms Mannion, Careers Leader added: “It is great that we can open our doors to employers once again and the students enjoyed interacting with Kevin, discussing leadership, and coming up with their own action plans. The event was inspiring and we are very grateful to Kevin for giving up his time to support our 28 Year 10 leaders.”
Kevin has met with Dillan Hollas from Year 12 as Dillan is interested in joining the armed forces as an Officer. Kevin helped Dillan to understand the key attributes required and how to develop these in sixth form.
