Students fundraising efforts are Just the Job!
Our students’ free dress day at the end of the summer term was a resounding success raising £718 for local charity Just The Job. The dynamic charity and social enterprise supports adults with a wide range of abilities in practical, work-orientated therapeutic activities.
Established in 2005, Just the Job aims to empower, support and nurture individuals by developing a wide variety of skills and social experiences through giving them the opportunity to access practical work skills training, life skills and social activities. Their team members come from within the local community and work hard to give something back. In conjunction with their occupational therapist, they work closely with other organisations such as the Adult Learning and Skills Service. Their main work activities are garden maintenance, processing wood into logs to sell to customers for fire wood and crafting and horticultural activities at their three-acre community gardens. These provide a valuable source of income to support our other activities.
Mrs Weston said: “Our student leaders suggested raising money for Just The Job and I am delighted that we can donate such an impressive amount to them. We are really looking forward to working closely with the charity in the coming months and hope our students can learn more about gardening to help support our eco garden and other environmental projects in the future. Thank you to all the students who took part who donated to this very worthy cause.”
