Students’ elf on the shelf event supports local food bank
A group of six community-spirited Year 9 students were delighted with the results of their ‘Elf on the Shelf’ event which resulted in a large donation of dried and tinned foods for Store House, in Richmond. Caitlin, Jasmin, Harriett, Lily, Maddie and Jennifer have been working on their idea this half term and wanted to have a fun activity that students could take part in whilst also helping the food bank appeal. The group hid 15 elves in the library, restaurant and in the sports courts for students to find during the day. The students who took part in exchange for a donation to Store House.
Nicola O’ Malley, Dance teacher, said: “I have been so impressed with how creative and resourceful the students have been. Their initiative injected some festive fun whilst also doing so much good in the community. They did a great job in organising the event and they should be very proud of what they have achieved.”
Suz Gregory, Community Manager at Store House, added: “What a fun way to give to the food bank – we are so impressed! We hope the students had fun. This food will be used in our food parcels that we give out each week in our community.”
