STAY SAFE AND HAVE AN ENJOYABLE BONFIRE NIGHT

04 November 2022  |  Jill Lundberg  |  Posted in:

With Bonfire night approaching, we hope everyone has a great evening and enjoys the organised firework displays and bonfires that are taking place locally. We work closely with Richmond Fire Station throughout the year and would like to share some important guidance from them about the correct use of sparklers and fireworks to help ensure everyone has a safe and enjoyable evening.

SPARKLER SAFETY – did you know that sparklers get five times hotter than cooking oil? Sparklers are not toys and should NEVER be given to a child under five. They can quickly ignite clothing and cause severe burns if they come into contact with skin.

FIREWORK SAFETY – while not all firework injuries lead to hospital admission, 1,835 people in England attended A&E for firework injuries in 2018/19. Most injuries happen at private or family displays so attend professionally organised displays. Here is a short video which highlights the dangers of fireworks.
