Staff and students support the Royal British Legion Poppy Appeal

Thank you to the members of staff who, once again, are giving up their time to sell poppies at Tesco, Catterick Garrison, on behalf of the Royal British Legion. Poppies are being sold each day, between 09:30 and 16:00 until Sunday 14th November. One volunteer is Jon Giddens, our Maintenance Manager, who was in the Royal Signals from 1989-2012, leaving as a Staff Sergeant after serving in a number of postings including Bosnia, Iraq and Afghanistan. Apart from 2020, Jon has taken part in the Remembrance Parade at the Cenotaph in London each year since 2015 and is looking forward to the event at the weekend.
Jon said: “It was an honour to sell poppies to support the Royal British Legion and it was made all the more poignant as it is the 100th year that the poppy has been used as a symbol of remembrance. So many people donated, their generosity truly amazed me.”
We were delighted to be able to support the appeal and thank Julie, Tesco’s community champion, for all her hard work in co-ordinating the volunteers, as well as volunteering herself, to make this happen.
Students and staff are also supporting the Royal British Legion in School with poppies available at student services.
