ST ANDREWS UNIVERSITY MATHS STUDENT RETURNS TO INSPIRE YEAR 10 GIRLS ABOUT STEM SUBJECTS

19 July 2024  |  Sven Wardle  |  Posted in: , ,

Cora Aked, a student who left Richmond Sixth Form College last year with four A* grades at A-Level, recently returned to Richmond School to talk to a group of Year 10 girls about her experiences to date in relation to STEM subjects and Sixth Form studies in general.

Cora started by explaining what subjects she studied at A Level and the reasons behind these choices. She then went on to give some details about her Maths degree at St Andrews and student life in Scotland. She has taken advantage of her proximity to the mountains and has recently returned from a trip to the Cuillin Ridge, Skye!

The girls then had the opportunity to ask Cora questions about STEM subjects, being a Sixth Form student and University in general.

The students found Cora’s talk and answers to their questions interesting and informative, giving them a real insight into what might lay ahead for the next few years. They reported that it has given them plenty to think about after their GCSEs.

Thank you to Cora for taking the time to visit, to Ms Thornton for coordinating the visit and to the Year 10 students for engaging so positively with Cora.
