SOPHIE’S POEM SELECTED FOR PUBLICATION IN YOUNG WRITERS’ ANTHOLOGY
Back in November, Sophie Ward, Year 7 student at Richmond School, entered the school’s ‘Writing for Remembrance’ competition. She wasn’t a winner on that occasion, but that didn’t stop her! She and her family looked online and found another Remembrance Day writing competition, titled ‘Lest We Forget’, run by the organisation Young Writers. She sent her poem away to them and waited…
Recently, Sophie received news that her poem was one of the very few to receive a Certificate of Merit in the nationwide competition. In addition, it has been selected to be published in a Young Writers Anthology, a copy of which will be stored in the British Library, along with all officially published books in the UK.
Sophie will receive a copy of the anthology when it’s published later this year and has promised to bring it into school for a photo – watch this space!
Congratulations to Sophie – we look forward to hearing about the further success and achievements of a young writer with a great deal of potential!
