SIXTH FORM STUDENTS GAIN ESSENTIAL INTERVIEW EXPERIENCE

We were once again delighted to run a mock interview session for our Year 13 students recently. This has now become an annual event in our careers calendar, giving students the opportunity to practice a formal interview in preparation for life after college. Each student met with a volunteer from a local organisation, simulating a real interview. Students were provided with verbal and written feedback and tips on how to improve their interview performance.
Ruth Hamer, Careers Adviser said: “Our partners at NYBEP have done another fabulous job of organising these mock interviews for our students. We are incredibly grateful to all the volunteers who gave up their time to come and support us. We are lucky to have such a supportive community and we couldn’t do so many of our valuable careers activities without their help. We had some wonderful feedback about our students following the interviews. This is a fantastic chance for students to practice their interviews skills ahead of formal interviews for university, apprenticeships and employment. Some students have even gone on to organise work experience with the employers they met on the day, which is amazing. Thanks to all involved.”
Miss Wand, one of our Year 13 tutors, following the interviews reported: “When I arrived at tutor this morning, I heard several students in my tutor group chatting about yesterday’s interviews. They had been apprehensive about the idea beforehand, but what I heard them saying was overwhelmingly positive. They were talking about how useful they had found it and how warm and friendly the interviewers were. When I joined in and asked them about it, they were so enthusiastic, saying it was a great experience.”
