A group of Year 9 and 10 students dressed up as characters from Shrek and, in doing so, raised £165.50 for the British Heart Foundation. Jack Gilpin, in Year 10, said: “I initially came up with idea of dressing up as Shrek as a way of raising money for charity, after we did the Waluigi Thursday event. However, the idea would never have been more than that without all the wonderful people who joined me as Shrek or Shrek-inspired: Edmund Richardson (Y10) as Fiona, James Slater (Y9) as Donkey, Maciej Koltek (Y9) as a Mini Shrek and Nathan Rogers (Y9) as Puss In Boots.” A group of Year 9 and 10 students dressed up as characters from Shrek and, in doing so, raised £165.50 for the British Heart Foundation. We then went on to consider an area where we could make a difference and still contribute to the NHS so in the end our fundraising went to the British Heart Foundation. We were delighted to raise £165.50 for the charity which is quite a substantial amount. As far as what we did in the day, we all attended lessons, following a normal day. During break we went around collecting money, generally raising the mood on a Thursday was a good feeling as well. Quite conveniently, we do have another fundraising event planned and that will be a  students versus teachers cricket match and we hope to raise another substantial sum of money at that event.”   Well done Shrek and friends, you certainly raised plenty of smiles! We look forward to hearing more about the charity cricket match.
