Shining a spotlight on children’s mental health

This week is Place2Be’s Children’s Mental Health week and their theme for the week is ‘Growing Together’. Spearheaded by the charity Place2Be, and now in its eighth year, Children’s Mental Health week hopes to encourage children (and adults) to consider how they have grown and how they can help others to grow.
Growing Together is about growing emotionally and finding ways to help each other grow. Challenges and setbacks can help us to grow and adapt and trying new things can help us to move beyond our comfort zone into a new realm of possibility and potential. However, emotional growth is often a gradual process that happens over time, and sometimes we might feel a bit ‘stuck’.
There are some fantastic free resources available from the charity here which we urge parents and carers to read through and share with their children.
If you haven’t had an opportunity to find out more about the work of the Hambleton and Richmond Wellbeing in Mind Team (WiMT), who have a base in Richmond School, then please do spare a few minutes to watch a short video introducing the team here.
WiMT will be supporting us develop a whole school approach to mental health; assemblies and classes, offering consultation and support to teaching staff if they have any concerns about students and identifying and offering support to students who may benefit from a CBT informed approach to any difficulties they may be experiencing.
