School Performs Festive Concert for Community

Young musicians brought a host of festive cheer to an appreciative audience in a spectacular evening of music and song. Students from Richmond School and Sixth Form College staged a Yuletide extravaganza to remember showing family and friends their musical skills. The Christmas cracker featured a debut public performance of Sarah from a newly released album by Evie Wright, Ollie Carr, Rob Tweddle and Zak Hornby. Traditional festive favourites, such as Jingle Bells and Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer, were complemented by popular tunes including Maroon 5’s Moves Like Jagger, Hallelujah and Polar Express. Zak Hornby wowed the audience with his electric guitar rendition of Meet Darth Ear while the Richmond School Singers sang and signed Wonderful World. Performances allowed musicians to showcase their talents including the concert band, jazz band, string ensemble, chamber choir and junior band. Students sang the emotive Heal the World before the evening was brought to a tumultuous climax with the concert band’s performance of Swingalong. Head of music Allison Brown said: “The concert was the culmination of a great deal of hard work by students and I am so proud of each and everyone of them. “They are a credit to their families and the school and their wonderful performances vindicate the emphasis we place on music to learning.”
