Many of our Year 7 students join Richmond School already very experienced in a wide variety of activities, from athletics to musical theatre, tap dancing to chess. Scarlett Allick is an excellent example of this, coming to Richmond with a year’s experience of playing the guitar and over eight years as a dancer.
Scarlett has committed to and kept going with both of these activities, as well as becoming fully involved in school life and the extra-curricular activities offered at Richmond, including the after-school netball club.
Sarah, Scarlett’s mum, provides a bit more information about Scarlett’s music and dance, including some recent exam successes:
“Scarlett has been learning the acoustic guitar since she was 10, under the instruction of Ian Cobb from One2One Music Tuition. She received a Distinction for her Grade 1 exam at the age of 11 and took her Grade 2 exam this November – she achieved a Distinction for this too!
In addition to her musical achievements, Scarlett has also recently achieved a Distinction in her Grade 4 Royal Academy of Dance ballet exam. Scarlett has been doing ballet since the age of three at The Sarah Louise School of Dance in Northallerton and is quite an accomplished dancer, having taken all her ballet exams up to Grade 5. She is currently working toward her Intermediate Foundation vocational examination, a qualification designed for students who want to study dance in greater depth.
Scarlett also does pointe work, commercial jazz and contemporary dance lessons, participating in dance shows on a yearly basis. On Saturday mornings Scarlett helps out at her dance school mentoring the younger students.”
It’s excellent to hear about Scarlett’s continuing success in both music and dance, as well as the fact she’s making the effort to pass on her experience – thank you to Scarlett and Sarah for providing the information. We look forward to hearing what’s next!
