RICHMOND SCHOOL’S EVOLUTION DANCE GROUP IMPRESS AT ‘DANCE IT UP NORTH’ EVENT.

Just before Easter, 35 Year 7, 8 and 9 dancers from Richmond School’s Evolution Dance extracurricular group attended a community dance event – Dance It Up North – at Northallerton Forum. The event was organised by The York and North Yorkshire Dance Network in partnership with Yorkshire Dance and was a chance to see the many forms of dance that are being practised and produced locally and celebrate dance in a friendly, supportive environment.

Our students spent the day taking part in workshops and rehearsals run by dance professionals from across Yorkshire and beyond and even had the opportunity to watch a premiere performance of a new piece by Manchester based dance theatre company Coalesce Dance Theatre.

The day finished with performances from all the dance groups who attended. There were two Richmond School Evolution groups, both of whom put on fantastic performances in front of a packed audience.

The day was fun, creative and inspiring for our dancers who were all professional, polite and enthusiastic throughout the day. A real credit to Richmond School!

Mrs. Fox, Lead Teacher of Dance, said: “We were the only school group on the programme and our 35 students performed alongside some incredibly talented Youth Dance groups from across North Yorkshire and totally held their own. We were also the only group with multiple boys. Some of the staff mentioned this and were really impressed. They absolutely smashed it, I’m beyond proud of them!”
