RICHMOND SCHOOL STUDENTS SELECTED TO PLAY CRICKET FOR DURHAM

We recently received an email informing us that three Richmond School students had been selected to play cricket for their respective County Age Group Team at Durham County Cricket Club. Bertie Morris, Year 9 – U14, Matty Watt, Year 10 – U15, Isaac Tate, Year 11 – U15. In addition, Sophie White, Year 10, has secured a place on the Durham Cricket Emerging Player Programme.
Each student received a letter from Durham Cricket Club, congratulating them on their achievement and detailing the hard work that lies ahead – gym and conditioning programmes, practice sessions, sports psychology sessions and matches in the summer.
The letters also explained the importance of balancing the demands of cricket with the maintenance of high standards at school and the achievement of high quality academic qualifications – especially important for Isaac in his GCSE year.
Sophie’s letter also gave some interesting context to the Emerging Players Programme she is joining: “This is a historic moment as Durham Cricket achieves a Tier1 professional women’s team, thanks to the hard work and dedication of the entire club.”
Congratulations to these four talented and hard-working students – we look forward to following their progress on the cricket pitch as the 2025 season unfolds!
Note: We are aware that there will be other students with similar stories – selection for high level sport or other activities – please tell us about them and we’ll celebrate their achievements!
