RICHMOND SCHOOL RUGBY STARS SHINE ON SUNDAY!
As we regularly mention, many of our students are involved in sport and other extra-curricular activities, not just in school, but also out in the local community.
Rugby is particularly strong locally, with a number of clubs offering young players fantastic opportunities to train and play, and even progress into area and county sides, if not beyond!
We recently received the following report from Laura Miller, mum of Elliot, Year 10 student at Richmond and a player in Darlington RFC’s U15 rugby squad:
“Huge shoutout to the 11 Year 10 boys from Richmond School who faced off against each other in an exciting County Cup match last Sunday!
Representing Darlington RFC and Darlington Mowden Park RFC, they battled it out in a hard-fought game, with Mowden taking the win.
The match was played in great spirit, followed by food and socialising in the club house – just how rugby should be!
Special congratulations to three of the players, Elliott Miller, Darlington RFC, with Josh Drought and Harry Lewis, both Darlington Mowden Park RFC, who recently retained their places in the South Durham Player Development Group (PDG) the weekend previously. This was after a tough selection tournament against top players from across the county. A fantastic achievement!
Well done to all the boys!”
We love hearing about individual and team performances from any team or individual, any age group and any sport or activity. We will always endeavour to publish an article celebrating the achievements of our students if we receive information from parents / carers.
If anyone has any more information or photos they would like added to this article when it appears in the February edition of our Newsletter, please don’t hesitate to email swardle@richmond-alt.uk
