Richmondshire Sports Partnership hosted a young Sports Leader training session recently for 10 local primary schools.
Each school brought 10 playground leaders from Years 5 and 6. They received training on how to utilise skipping at break and lunchtimes to improve the activity levels of all pupils within their school.
This initiative is in line with the Chief Medical Officer’s priority to help all schools to achieve 60 active minutes of activity per pupil, per day, or 20 minutes for SEND students.
The initiative also supports improvements in students’ physical literacy and social, emotional and physical wellbeing.
We were very glad to welcome Gail Robinson from Skipping Schools back to lead the training for the third consecutive year. The feedback that Gail and her training receives from the primary schools is excellent, as is the impact the young Sports Leaders have as they return to their respective schools.
