RICHMOND SCHOOL CAREERS FAIR 2024: YEAR 9 AND 11 STUDENTS TALK TO OVER 30 PROVIDERS

19 September 2024  |  Sven Wardle  |  Posted in: , ,

The start of the academic year heralds the annual Richmond School Careers Fair, an opportunity for students to talk to employers as well as education, training and apprenticeship providers about their futures. Ruth Hamer, Careers Adviser and chief organiser of the event, provides this report:

“We were delighted to once again welcome a host of local and national employers, Further and Higher education establishments and training and apprenticeship providers to our annual Careers Fair. With over 31 providers in attendance, our Year 9 and Year 11 students were given a fantastic opportunity to ask lots of questions and find out about career paths, different job options, courses and training opportunities.

Once again, we were bowled over by the engagement of both local and national organisations whose employees volunteer their time to support our students. For many of our Year 9 students this may have been the first time they have been able to talk to employers directly about careers and options available to them, and hopefully they’ve been inspired to start thinking about and researching some of these options further. It has also given our Year 11 students another opportunity following work experience last year, to discuss courses, apprenticeships and future careers options within a wide range of industries.”

Jamie Pemberton, Careers Leader, said: “The students all behaved impeccably, were engaged, polite and asked some fantastic questions – the feedback we received from all the organisations who came along was hugely complimentary.”

Any students, or parents/carers of students who have questions following the Careers Fair are encouraged to contact Ruth Hamer, Careers Adviser at ruthamer@richmond-alt.uk or pop into the Careers Hub in school.
