Recently, Richmond School and Sixth Form College hosted an ‘Evening of Dance Showcase’, a celebration of the GCSE & CTEC dance courses studied by Year 11 and Year 13 students. This was a chance for these students to share all of the hard work they’ve been putting into their exam work this year.
Mrs Fox, Lead Teacher of Dance, said: “All performances in the showcase were created by the students themselves as part of their choreography studies and the quality of work produced this year has been incredible. Our Year 13 students Anth & Amy did a brilliant job in helping to choreograph, plan and manage the showcase as their final project with us at Richmond Sixth Form College, before heading off to university in September. The showcase and the students have been amazing this year and I wish especially our Year 13 students all the best with their futures – we’ll miss them!”
Ms Johnson, Assistant Head and Maths Teacher, said: “The standard was phenomenal. I just love seeing students I teach in a maths classroom get on that stage and be completely different! The programme was varied and it was very slick changing from one dance to another. Anth and Amy did really well.”
Mrs Fox also received the following email from an audience member after the Showcase: “I just wanted to say how amazing the Showcase was on Friday, we absolutely loved it and all the students were completely fabulous.
In the car on the way home my eight year old daughter said: “I was really scared about going on the stage at the end of the year for the school play, but now I’m not.” She was genuinely inspired by seeing all the dancers getting up and performing in front of everyone. I think she might want to be a dancer now!
Thank you thank you for such an inspirational evening and thank you to all your students, they’ve truly inspired one little girl.”
The students put this video together to give you a glimpse backstage before the Showcase – enjoy!
