RICHMOND MUSICIANS BRING SPARKLE TO CHRISTMAS FESTIVITIES.

The musicians at Richmond School and Sixth Form College are always very busy at Christmas and this year was no exception. After performing at the Christmas Lights Switch On, The Christmas Fair and in The Mayor’s Christmas Carol Concert in the community, the students then delivered two more tremendous performances at our own Christmas Concert and Carol Service.

Firstly, the concert was a wonderful evening, highlighting the breadth and depth of talent at Richmond School. The students took a near full house audience through Christmas favourites old and new as well as some non-festive tunes in an evening that really captured the spirit of the season. There was even an opportunity for some audience participation too!

Then on the final Thursday of term we held our annual Carol Service at St Mary’s Church. The students again played with such high quality and our readers too were all outstanding in the quality of their delivery. A lovely evening was had by all.

Judy Hooton, Chair of Governors, commented: “The performances this term have been absolutely brilliant. Thank you! The quality of musical production and the commitment of the students is second to none.”

Mrs Potter, Headteacher, received an email from a parent of one of our readers on the day after the Carol Service: “I wanted to thank you for the wonderful concert at St. Mary’s last night. The talent on display by your students, music department and all involved in the concert was really impressive. The artwork on display in the church and the professional programme made the event feel very special. The orchestra was polished and sounded amazing and the choir and soloists sang beautifully; I really felt the spirit of Christmas.

Thanks to you and Mr. Boyd for a great evening!”

Finally, our Orchestra and Concert Band entertained the students and staff on the final day in the Aim High Assemblies. This is a terrific opportunity to share in all student successes over the term including sporting, artistic and academic successes as well as celebrating high attendance, CREDIT scores and Students of the Month. Our musicians brought some Christmas joy with their music and we were also entertained by some extremely high-quality dance acts. A wonderful way to end the term.
