Not one, but two trophies for Richmond School Theatre Company
We are incredibly proud of our Richmond School Senior Theatre Company students who scooped not one, but two trophies at the Northern round of the All-England Theatre One Act Play Festival, hosted at The Georgian Theatre Royal.
The Group was awarded the Crathorne Cup for Best Youth Group as well as the Durham Cup for best Technical Achievement and Stage Management for their performance of ‘The Edelweiss Pirates’ by Atub Kahn Dinn. In addition, Devon Raggett was a nominee for Best Actress. This is amazing news for this highly talented and close-knit group who have worked so hard to put on such a polished performance.
Mr Birdsall and Miss Manning, leaders of the Theatre Company, said: “The students pulled it together on Friday with our all-day rehearsal and completely blew us away again, receiving some amazing comments. The adjudicator was most impressed with the students’ acting skills. She said they were an ‘exceptionally talented group’ and she loved Callum Leinster and Sophia O’Callaghan’s partnership. She said our style and portrayal of the story was perfect.
“We reached the semi-final but unfortunately due to the short notice of the date we are unable to make it as some of the students have other commitments, so we will have to decline. However, what a great effort for our first-ever entry to a prestigious competition – it was a fabulous opportunity for the students to compete against like-minded groups and to have feedback from expert adjudication to help them enhance the quality of their performances in the future.
“This group is such an exceptionally talented bunch of people to work with and we are so happy they are staying with us in Sixth Form to study A-level Drama and Theatre Studies.”
