Northern Youth Voices excel at Wensleydale Tournament of Song

It’s great to hear that Northern Youth Voices came first and second in the junior choir class at the recent Wensleydale Tournament of Song.  A number of our students sing with the choir and this was the first time the choirs had taken part in a competition. Debbie Allenby, who runs the choirs, said: Everyone had the most amazing time performing and came away on a complete high! The senior group came first and the juniors came second – they both received fabulous scores and feedback.”

We are thrilled to hear that Freya, in Year 12, has offered to be Northern Youth Voices new accompanist after Easter and that Andrew, in Year 10, has also joined the senior Voices as well as supporting the younger group for his Duke of Edinburgh Award.

After Easter Northern Youth Voices will be rehearsing in the hall at Richmond Sixth Form College, on Monday evenings at 5:30, 6:15 and 7pm. A recruitment window for new members is opening after the Easter break so please get in touch with Debbie if you would like to find out more at: or at the website or on Facebook.

Debbie also runs the Dales Community Pop Choir in which a number of our former students and parents of our students sing with.  They are also celebrating after winning both the Lady Wilson Cup for the highest adult choir score and the Thwaites Award, for the most promising choral performance at the Wensleydale Tournament of Song.
